According to Vo Tan Thanh, vice-president of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Vietnam's automotive market was driven by the sale of nearly 64,800 units in the first three months of the year an increase of 8% in one year, this first trimester, the number of imported automobiles in the country increased by 34.4% year-on-year, with 26,500 units.

Last year, 3.1 million motorcycles were marketed in the domestic market, a growth of 9.5% compared to 2015, despite forecasts that projected saturation of this segment.

Although strategic, the automotive auxiliary industry in Vietnam has made little progress over the past 20 years. It is still far from being able to meet domestic demand.

Currently, the location rate of the auxiliary industry of Vietnam does not exceed 15%. This results in production costs 20% higher than those major car manufacturers elsewhere in ASEAN, such as Thailand and Indonesia.
